Homework is a part of the school's curriculum and enriches the educational experience. It is an essential and usually graded ingredient in a student's education. Homework can take many different forms, including, but not limited to, written work, exercises, review of notes, study time, reading material from books or other materials or projects.
Parents or siblings may help guide students in homework but fundamentally homework is independent work. Students should complete homework on their own. Students who spend excessive amounts of time in one subject area need to see the teacher or have their parents set up a teacher conference. Middle school students and some high school students are given models of homework and usually given time in class to begin their homework assignments.
