While we have been on spring break, much has changed in our community as Governor Abbott's order lifting the mask mandate has taken effect. You have undoubtedly seen a difference in the way in which local businesses have responded on an individual basis to the statewide relaxing of certain COVID prevention protocols. I want to clarify Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School's position regarding the wearing of masks and the COVID prevention protocols that have been in place all school year. After consulting with and receiving direction from the Office of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Austin, Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School will keep all of the COVID prevention protocols in place that it has been utilizing throughout the 2020 - 2021 school year. These protocols include the requirement that students wear masks when they enter school, move around during school, or are in a situation where they cannot adequately socially distance themselves from others. While burdensome to some, these protocols have allowed us to offer in-person instruction throughout the school year while minimizing the effects of having to periodically quarantine to prevent the spread of the COVID virus. We anticipate that these protocols will remain in place until the end of the 2020 - 2021 school year. Each individual will be required to follow the existing protocols as a condition of attending school at Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School.
