Read Across America is an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association that began in 1997. One part of the project is National Read Across America Day, an observance in the United States held on the school day closest to March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. March 2 - 6 is Read Across America Week this year, and March 2 is Read Across America Day. We will be observing Read Across America week on both campuses this year, having all students read a book of their choice and bringing the book to class to discuss with their classmates.
There will be a Literary Parade on Friday, March 6. Students will be able to come to school dressed as a book character, or author. No masks are allowed, and the costume should be school appropriate. We will meet on the track in front of the bleachers by the field house about 2:30 p.m. Come celebrate "Read Across America" with us. We invite you to read with us.
