Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School is honored to announce the distinguished recipients of this year's Ed Braig Award. Established to honor individuals who exemplify dedication to the service of Bishop Reicher, particularly after their children have graduated.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Shirley Meier, our beloved Food Service Director, who started working at St. Louis Catholic School on August 2, 1979. With an impressive 44 years of dedicated service to Bishop Louis Reicher, Ms. Meier embodies unwavering commitment and service to our school. Every morning, she graciously begins her day by preparing coffee for our teachers and staff and ensuring students enjoy "milk break" mid-morning. Alongside her dedicated team, Ms. Meier diligently prepares and serves lunches throughout the school week. Her famous red velvet cake on hamburger day is a favorite among students and staff alike. We express profound gratitude to Ms. Meier for her invaluable service to the Bishop Louis Reicher community.
Next, we pay tribute to the late Mr. Hal Whitaker, a revered figure in the Waco business community. He believed in giving his time, talent, and treasures back to his community and left an indelible mark on Bishop Reicher. As a devoted father whose sons attended St. Louis Catholic School and Reicher Catholic High School, Mr. Whitaker generously devoted his time, talent, and resources to various endeavors in support of our institution. He played a pivotal role as a founding member of the Reicher Field Crew alongside Ed Braig, dedicating many years of service. Mr. Whitaker's involvement extended to serving on the Reicher Advisory Board and actively participating in the Reicher Booster Club. Additionally, he mentored numerous Cougars and fostered strong ties between Reicher and the wider Waco community. We are profoundly grateful for Mr. Whitaker's unwavering dedication and countless contributions to the Bishop Louis Reicher community.
