Our PreK Program is dedicated to nurturing children's intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development to prepare them for Kindergarten. Teachers set and communicate benchmark goals with parents, ensuring a collaborative approach to each child's growth. Students enhance their fine motor skills through activities such as tracing and writing letters, learning both upper and lower-case letters, and writing their names.
Both PreK and Kindergarten students attend daily PE classes and participate in weekly library, music, and art sessions. The program also includes designated time for afternoon naps and daily recess, allowing students to rest and engage in physical activities.
In addition to their Religion class, students attend weekly Chapel services. Here, they learn about God and deepen their relationship with Him through engaging Bible stories.
Bishop Reicher's kindergarten program establishes a foundation for lifelong learning within a nurturing and supportive setting. Our full-day program, aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), ensures a comprehensive educational journey for young learners.
Kindergarten at Bishop Reicher covers core subjects, including Spell to Write and Read (SWR), Math, Science/Social Studies, and Religion. Daily physical education and weekly art, library, and music classes enrich students' well-rounded education. Balancing structured learning with active play, students enjoy daily recess and essential nap time.
A standout feature of our program is the introduction of the Singapore Math curriculum in Kindergarten. This curriculum is celebrated for its effectiveness in cultivating robust arithmetic and number sense skills, inspired by Singapore's consistent top performance in math worldwide, as evidenced by the Trends in Math and Science Study (TIMSS).
In the spring semester, Kindergarten students actively participate in weekly Mass at St. Louis Catholic Church. During the fall semester, they also engage in a Buddy System with middle school students, fostering a sense of community and modeling proper Mass behavior. This initiative encourages shared activities such as reading, crafting, and building lasting friendships between the two groups.
